Engano Aquatic Life

One of the Open Water students here, Mr. Joon Wan Kim, brought his digital camera the other day when we went diving. I held the camera and took photos for him. Here is what we saw on one of the dives. Lionfish, anemone like thing, Crown of Thorns, a Nudibranch (Chromodoris reticulata), and a nice little Scorpion Fish. There is some neat little things to see on our house reef. More pics to come later.

Fun and Sun

Here are some recent photos of where I am and what I am up to: I am working as a Divemaster for Nick, the guy in red, at the shop below, where I breath lots of air from tanks like those, using my new (used) regulator. It is a nice job.

Week in Germany

A couple weeks ago I was in Germany for a week. In Munich to be precise. Nice city, that reminds me a lot of Pennsylvania.

Advanced Diver

A couple weeks ago I completed my Advanced Diver certification from The National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI). I took the course on Mactan Island, in Cebu, and enjoyed it. I hope to sometime in the near future work my way to either Divemaster or Dive Instructor.

Diving in Subic

This past weekend my brother Josiah and I did some diving in Subic Bay.  We dove the LST, El Capitan, and the USS New York.  All three are big wrecks sitting at the bottom of the bay.  We went inside all three wrecks and had an awesome time.  We went out with Dante Lagac from the Boardwalk divers.  These wrecks are definitely recommended.  Here is a pic of Josiah after I asked him how the dives were.  The other is a pic of some of the dives sites in Subic.  My favorite was the LST.  Awesome

Giant Centipede

Here is a short video clip of a giant centipede that I saw while in Palawan.   video

Pagudpud, Palawan and Pinatubo

These past three weeks I have been able to do a little traveling.  I first went to the farthest point north on the island of Luzon, which is a place called Pagudpud.  It is a beautiful and quite secluded place that has some very nice beaches and laid back and friendly people.
After that I spent a four days in Palawan which is an island far south.  I was able to visit El Nido, Puerto Princesa and a place called Sabang to see the Underground River.  Palawan is a beautiful frontier island with lots to see.
Next I traveled with some friends to the crater lake located at the top of Mt. Pinatubo, a notorious volcano that erupted in the 90s.  We rode 4x4s up quite a ways and then hiked to the top.  It was also a beautiful place, though very different from the two places I went earlier.  Here are a couple pics from my travels:

From the top left then down:  Pagudpud beach, El Nido island hopping, Pinatubo crater lake, another Pagudpud beach shot, Underground River.
